MANAGER SEARCH

The Chairperson of the Personnel Committee and the Village Attorney has contacted Deboria Powell concerning an employment agreement.

                                                                      

OFFICE STAFF

The staff has been involved in preparatory work for 14 meetings since the July 31st Council meeting.  They continue to be involved in the collection of Village taxes along with their regular duties.

 

POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Chief the Department has been very busy and doing well.

 

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

The crew continues to be busy with their routine summer work which includes sewer cleaning, sweeping streets, patching streets, picking up brush, equipment maintenance and the mowing of the village parks and other village owned properties.

 

PROJECTS

Beechwood Paving – Completed June 15th.

 

Asset Management Plan – To be completed by January 1, 2018. The plan is required by the Department of Environmental Quality and is a plan for a community on how to best allocate resources to restore, maintain, and improve their water system.

 

South Seeger water and sewer main crossings – Scheduled for the spring of 2018.

 

 

North and South Seeger milling and paving – The two projects were applied for through the Tuscola County Task Force 7A with each being an 80/20 Grant.

The estimated project costs:

North Seeger - $263,265.40, South Seeger - $197,582.91. Contract total $460,848.31.

The village estimated portion for the two projects would be $93,000.00 plus 15 per cent for engineering and testing of $70,000.00 for a total estimated cost to the Village of $163,000.

 

PARKS

The park programs finished well. We have yet to receive a summer end report from the Park Director, Day Camp Director, or Pool Director.  The Pool Director is on the Council Agenda as she wishes to give a verbal report to Council.

 

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

The plant is meeting all the required limits. The installation of the switch gear is expected to start soon.  Dennis McCabe, Plant Superintendent, will have a verbal report at the regular Council meeting.

 

BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS

Eighteen permits have been issued for Cass City from January 1, 2017 through August 24, 2017. The report sheets are attached.
